Daniel's Story
Daniel Van Geffen (he/him) is a graphic designer and design strategist that dedicates his work to environmental nonprofits and those supporting environmental and progressive organizations. He has worked with dozens of community-driven nonprofits and several tech startups centered around climate-technology and alternative energy sources. Some well-known environmental nonprofits he’s worked with include Greenpeace and the Sunrise Movement. He is nicknamed by some as his initials, DVG, which played into his freelance business name, DVG Designs.

Throughout his work, he prioritizes a systematic way of design thinking, always keeping the strategic design concept in mind. Daniel’s work goes beyond aesthetics and specializes in building design infrastructure for projects and organizations that they can later build on to expand their branding. This often includes projects like icon libraries, website design, presentation templates, report templates, and logo systems.

There are many systemic issues Daniel is deeply passionate about including climate justice, Palestinian liberation, labor reform, prison abolition, and reproductive justice.

He is currently spending much of his time outside of work planning a wedding with his fiancé and babying their three black cats: Salem, Cherry, and Stella! He spends his remaining free time playing boardgames and exploring Phoenix. Daniel enjoys the 5-hour complex boardgames just as much as a casual party game at the bar with friends. He also loves pirate fiction and is designing a pirate-themed boardgame when he has time. He views games as a great source to strengthen his mental dexterity, creativity, and social intelligence.

Daniel graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.
