Brit's Story

Brit Holmes (they/them) is a communication strategist, digital communications and marketing maven, and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion expert.

They have worked with over thirty nonprofits and also partnered with social enterprise businesses to cultivate culture; create, launch, and execute strategic communications initiatives and marketing plans; and provide organizational planning.

Previously, they have taught at Michigan State University and K–12 schools, and worked with global arts organizations, museums, universities, school districts, healthcare groups, a tech company, and organized communities. Some career highlights include getting a bill trending in California, a global arts campaign trending for seven days worldwide, working with influencers and Fortune 500 companies to support LGBTQ+ kids, and helping pass legislation in California for renters.

They have won awards for Outstanding Community Impact, Commitments to Service, production work, and interactive multimedia. They have presented at multiple conferences on inclusion, education, accessibility, email automation, burnout, fundraising, and comms strategy, and they are a published author, artist, and photographer.

Brit enjoys educating and training organizations on becoming more inclusive while helping them establish anti-discriminatory and anti-racist practices and policies.

In their free time, you can find them taking photos, learning a new instrument, and giving their dogs—Onyx, Iris, and Hera—the best life while honoring their dog, Juno.

Brit graduated from Michigan State University with an MA with honors, a BA with honors, and numerous concentrations, cognates, a specialization, and a graduate certificate.
